Iain Campbell
Technology judgement close to delivery.
Iain's background spans software engineering leadership, product and delivery systems, AI implementation and operating-model improvement. Small Engine applies that experience where commercial ambition has to become reliable operational work.
The model is intentionally direct. There is no sales hand-off to a junior delivery team and no assumption that every problem needs a large programme. Scope stays bounded, responsibilities stay visible and specialist support is added where the problem genuinely requires it.

Delivery model
Direct senior involvement with specialist support as required
Why the model matters
Small team. Serious engineering. Clear boundaries.
The advantage is not pretending to have hundreds of people. It is keeping judgement, accountability and implementation close together.
Where Small Engine fits
Established organisations with a problem worth owning.
The main commercial focus is established UK businesses with valuable operational workflows, enough complexity for a meaningful intervention and a decision-maker willing to own the outcome, including the security and operating risks that come with putting new systems into use.
Larger organisations can also be a fit where the work is clearly bounded, the sponsor and interfaces are explicit, procurement is feasible and direct senior engineering involvement is useful.
Small Engine is not positioned as a large systems integrator, 24/7 managed service or enterprise transformation programme.
